I made a solo CD in 2010. Well, actually it took years, but 2010 is when I finished it. It was a very personal project with very personal themes, and was a form of catharsis for me at the time. It was never intended to be a commercial success. Were that the case, I would not have used my own singing voice, for a start. It's pretty much in tune, but I'm no Peter Gabriel!
So I haven't done a lot with the album since then. It served its purpose. It gave me something to get my creative teeth into, and I swallowed a vast quantity of my own time and energy before I was done. I also had help from some great people: talented musician friends, mixing and mastering engineers, friends with suggestions and ideas, and friends and family who supported me throughout. Not to mention all those people who kept me sane while I worked through a difficult time in my life. I love you all.
This video shows the dashcam view of all the driving I did on a recent trip to Yorkshire to photograph the sky and generally make time lapses and have a relaxing time in the gorgeous scenery. There will be further videos later from that trip, but in the mean time, I decided to use all the driving footage to put together a compilation the same length as the CD - a kind of "Video LP" - if you pesky kids even know what an LP is…
This is the result, and it's really here mainly for those who know the album already, but I suppose it might be of some interest to anyone who knows me, knows the local geography, has an interest in time lapse videos, or just likes sitting mesmerised for 48 minutes without the aid of drugs.
If you enjoy this, please leave a comment! If you don't, you can also leave a comment, but I suggest you also hit STOP at some point. Nobody wants you to suffer :)
All the best,
Mike Torr
