This is the second part from ABBA’s sixth and final live concert in London's Wembley Arena. In the same manner as the first part, which was uploaded back in November 2014, exactly 35 years after ABBA’s performance, this is not a full-length filmed concert, because this never happened. Rather, it is an attempt to re-create the show as it was, by collecting as much stuff as possible that is out there, taken from the best-available sources, soundtracked with the first six tracks of disc 2 from new live album. My aim was to use only footage from their 1979/80 concert tour. Most parts have their origin in the 1979 TV-special 'ABBA In Concert’, while the rest is taken from various news reports, documentaries and - most importantly - rare amateur recordings from the concerts in Dortmund, Bremen and Copenhagen. Those recordings were captured back then by some brave fans who took their 8 mm or Super 8 film cameras and shared the results with the rest of the world decades after ABBA's heyday. You can easily spot these parts because of their low quality 8 mm/Super 8 technique. However, they expand our view on those marvelous concerts, offer the one and only chance to experience further footage from ABBA’s live concerts and give an unique insight into how ABBA performed those songs. This is everything that is left for the world! So due to their historic importance and the lack of additional footage these recordings are undoubtedly part of this complete set, and we are deeply, deeply grateful for those very few people who took the chance that’ll never come again - capturing ABBA on stage - and shared it!
Like in the previous part, there are some obvious ‘performance-fillers‘, which appear to take various footage from other performances, just to simulate some on-going stage-action for songs for which there isn’t enough footage available, or no footage at all, and again you might notice some obvious ‘continuity-flaws‘, like the changing wardrobe here and there or the repetition of some smaller snippets, which affect mostly shots from the audience (during applause-passages). I tried to avoid the repetition of the same shot over and over again as much as possible, but it sometimes became really hard, simply because there isn’t enough footage to fill the whole concert. However, all this affect just a minor part of the whole. Most of the film depicts ABBA at their peak, manifesting their endless energy and perfection on stage.
We are all so glad about the release of a complete ABBA concert on record. No one thought this would happen after all this time. This piece of work is dedicated with love to the four most beloved people, who did the best with their talents.
I hope you enjoy this visualization of ABBA’s final live concert at Wembley Arena 1979! Thank you for all your lovely comments and requests! The third and final part will follow on 10 April 2015.
